Gaumukh Tapovan Trek

The Journey starts from Gangotri, a small town in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand and one of the holy Dham covered during Char Dham yatra.

In picture is Gaumukh ( Snout of Ganga) is the main source of Bhagirathi river which joins Alaknanda river at Devprayag. Bhagirathi river was considered main source of Ganga in ancient times.

Gangotri National Park covers 2389 sq Kms and is rich with Flora & Fauna, it is home to snow leopards, Asian Black bear, brown bear, Musk Deer, Himalayan Thar and more.

The highlights of the trek are Gaumukh , Tapovan, Snow peaks like Shivling peak, Bhagirathi Peaks. The trek is moderate with max elevation of 4463mts (14,640 ft) .

Itinerary

Day 01: Dehradun to Gangotri (3100m) (Drive 242kms/ 9-10hrs) Overnight at Gangotri (Hotel)

Day 02: Gangotri to Chribasa (3560m) (Trek 9kms/ 5-6hrs) Overnight Camping (Tents) at Chirbasa

Day 03: Chirbasa to Bhojbasa (3790m) (Trek 5kms/ 2-3hrs) Overnight Camping (Tents) at Bhojbasa

Day 04: Bhojbasa to Tapovan (4450m) (Trek 7kms/ 5-6hrs)Overnight Camping (Tents) at Tapovan

Day 05: Tapovan to Chirbasa (Trek 12kms/ 6-7hrs) Overnight Camping (Tents) at Chirbasa

Day 06: Chirbasa to Gangotri (Trek 9km/ 4-5hrs) and Drive to Harsil (2620m) (Drive 25km, 1hr) (visit Bagori Village) Overnight at Harsil (Guesthouse)

Day 07: Harsil to Dehradun (Drive 220km/ 9hrs)

Transport Cost

We provide transfers to get you to the starting point and back as comfortably and in as less time as possible for you to enjoy the trip. For this we use quality vehicles like Mahindra Bolero, Tempo Traveler, etc. and no local jeeps or similar vehicles are used except where there are short transfers from the Guesthouse/Hotels to the trek points, etc.

The transport tariff includes all driver charges, fuel, parking, toll, and taxes. 

Transport Cost: Rs.3000/- per person + GST ( 5%)

Please note: The campsites for a particular day can be changed at the last minute on the trek, depending upon the availability of campsite, the safety of trekkers and other resources like water. The final call to do so will be in the hands of the Trip Leader after discussing the same with his local teammates and fellow trekkers*

Accommodation in good quality neat and clean (Hotels/Guesthouse/ Dome Tents) on Double & Triple sharing basis at Gangotri, Harsil & while camping

All Meals, starting with Dinner on Day 01 to breakfast on Day 06. Meals will be simple, nourishing, hot, fresh and vegetarian, mostly including a variety of Indian and local Pahaadi cuisines where ever possible

Morning & Evening refreshments during the Trek & while camping

Qualified and Professional Trip Leader/Guide(s) (Ratio 1 guide for every 06 Trekkers) to ensure high safety, more information and personal attention which are necessary to appreciate a trek

Good quality camping arrangements like neat & clean sleeping bags, mattress, spacious ‘A’ shaped/ ‘Dome’ shaped Tents for Guest, Dining & Kitchen Tent, Toilet tents

First aid kit (our Trip Leaders/ Guides are certified in handling first aid situations)

Porter/Mules to carry personal luggage weighing not more than 8-10kgs per participant for the entire trek (if not opted for) is chargeable at Rs. 2000/- per bag for the entire trek

Additional accommodation, food, and Transport expenses if the tour gets delayed due to weather, health or any other reason

Expenses for evacuation and rescue operations due to natural calamity, mishaps, injury, or any health problem

Extra cost incurred due to any unforeseen occurrence landslides, roadblocks, weather, expenses incurred on an account of sickness, etc.

Cost for supplementary service, optional Tours, Up-gradation Charges, and camera charges.

Cost for service provided on a personal request

Bottled Water, Soft Drinks, Laundry Charges, Room Service, incidentals or any other expense of personal nature

Tips for guides and helping staff 

Personal and Medical Insurance 

Cost for any other service not mentioned in the ‘cost inclusions’ above

Cancellation Policy

The standard administrative charge of 10% of the Total cost of the trip – Not refundable any point of time

  • Between 60 – 30 days: 25% of Total Trip Cost
  • Between 29 – 20 days: 50% of Total Trip Cost
  • Between 19 – 10 days: 75% of Total Trip Cost
  • Less than 9 days from the date of departure: 100% of Total Trip Cost

P.S. – Cancellation charges are applicable on the total amount of the Trip Cost.
