Awesome people but local and untrained. We had a medical emergency where they did their best to get our friend medical help but were not trained to avoid such emergencies. They had no knowledge of how to prevent high altitude sickness no say on the medicines. In the mountains it’s a tricky thing because it can lead to several problems. Apart from that the travel too and from sankri was a Tempo Traveller which was additional cost. The food on the entire trek was amazing. Tents were good quality and overall it was a great experience. …

Commanding an amazing view of the imposing Himalayan range, Chopta Trek is a beautiful, quiet and wild Himalayan destination with rich natural surroundings in the Kedarnath wildlife sanctuary of Uttarakhand, India. Nestled amidst a coniferous jungle of deodar at an elevation of 2990mtr this Himalayan hamlet is the commencement point of the world-famous Tungnath (3rd of Panchkedar in Uttarakhand) and Chadrashila Peak Trek also.
Otherwise known as mini Switzerland, Chopta offers a salubrious climate round the year. During summer it offers a retreat from the scorching heat of the plains and during winter snowfall in the region is worth admirable. The splendid and enchanting view of 41 Himalayan range including Trishul, Nanda Devi and Chaukhamba the real charm of Chopta is in witnessing the crimson rays of the sun-kissing the mighty Himalayan range, in listening to the chirping sound of birds and hissing music of mountain breeze passing through coniferous jungle of deodar. Chopta in Kedarnath wildlife sanctuary is home to more than 521 bird species and 121 mammals including Uttarakhand’s state bird ‘Monal’ and Barking Deer, Himalayan bear, leopard, fox, musk deer, langur, porcupine, flying squirrel, chital, jungle cat etc.
The journey begins from Dehradun. Morning, after breakfast at ease start your journey
towards Chopta. Drive alongside river Ganges along with mesmerizing mountain views, en-route you will pass by the holy town of Rudra Prayag where you can see the confluence (Sangam) of Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers which together contribute to form the holy river, Ganga.
Reach Sari by late afternoon, check-in the beautiful Homestay have some rest and then relax in the lap of
nature, acclimatise, take photographs and enjoy the beauty of nature, the day is yours at night enjoy
bonfire and dinner at 2,680 metres above sea level.
After breakfast, we shall start the journey for the Deoriatal trek, a 2.5 km trek (relatively steep but
small) towards the lake through the dense forest of Rhodendron and lots of wildflowers and ferns start from here. Upon arrival at Deoriatal, you will get to experience the only lake in the lower Himalayas where the mirror image of the mighty warrior Chaukhambha Peak is reflected completely. The mysterious but pristine water lake is known for its abysmal depth and no one could ever measure it
despite so many trials. Ascend down to Sari in the evening then drive to Chopta, overnight stay and
meals at Chopta.
Early after breakfast, we start the trek towards Tungnath-Chandrashila. Start early today. From the
picturesque environs of Chopta, we take the path towards the mighty Lord Shiva temple. From the meadows of Chopta trek distance is 3 km upwards to the temple of Tungnath and further 1 km is Chandrashila peak. Relatively less explored and a beautiful moderate trek, these trails will give a magnificent view of 360 degrees Himalayan peaks and the most beautiful sunset you ever wished. Back to
Chopta, overnight stay at Chopta.
In the morning get your belly filled with a delicious breakfast, Start your journey towards Dehradun.

We provide transfers to get you to the starting point and back as comfortably and in as little time as possible for you to enjoy the trip. For this, we use quality vehicles like Mahindra Bolero, Tempo Traveler, etc. and no local jeeps or similar vehicles are used except where there are short transfers from the Guesthouse/Hotels to the trek points, etc.
The transport tariff includes all driver charges, fuel, parking, toll, and taxes.
Transport Cost: Rs.2500/- per person + GST ( 5%)
Please note: The campsites for a particular day can be changed at the last minute on the trek, depending upon the availability of campsite, the safety of trekkers and other resources like water. The final call to do so will be in the hands of the Trip Leader after discussing the same with his local teammates and fellow trekkers*
Accommodation : in Homestay / Guest House / Alpine tents
Note: As Outdoor Monks promotes holistic tourism in the remote villages, so wherever possible we provide accommodation in villager’s homes to empower them. Homestays are usually in small houses with a capacity of 2-4 rooms only, hence sharing basis while your stay would not be applicable.
Meals starting from dinner on day 1 to breakfast on day 4. Dinner will be served with 1 non-veg dish.
