Kedarkanta Trek with Trekkaro. Reasons we selected Trekkaro were: 1. Lowest competitive price 2. Free trekking gear 3. Good reviews. But we very soon realised that there was a lot of cost cutting... read more to be able to give us that discounted price. We were supposed to carry our own utensils at all places at all times, which is a little uncomfortable when you are at the hotel as well. Our Guides were Guddu and Jaggu. Awesome people but local and untrained. We had a medical emergency where they did their best to get our friend medical help but were not trained to avoid such emergencies. They had no knowledge of how to prevent high altitude sickness no say on the medicines. In the mountains it’s a tricky thing because it can lead to several problems. Apart from that the travel too and from sankri was a Tempo Traveller which was additional cost. The food on the entire trek was amazing. Tents were good quality and overall it was a great experience. …
Booked a last minute trek with Outdoor Monks. Could not have found a nicer, more supportive set of guides and trek mates! Outdoor monks took amazing care of all of... read more us, making sure we bonded as a group, enjoyed the trek, learnt along the way and most importantly... Ate well! In a group where not everyone was at the same fitness level to climb, our guides Bharatji and Dheeraji made sure that we all made it to the summit as a team. Not to mention, they clicked some of the most amazing pics for us never once rushing us to "keep moving" or "reach the camp" like some of the other guides on the mountain kept yelling at their groups. They were patient, polite and best of all provided us with all the support we needed. For those of us who wanted to explore, they even took us on small excursions along the way to discover the mountain and spot wildlife. Lastly, Ankush, our tour coordinator, was an absolute jem, helping us prepare before we reached Dehradun and offering some trek-saving advice that got us through the cold nights :) Thanks Outdoor Monks! Can't wait to get back on the trail with you again soon! …

Brahmatal TreK – A giant lake nestling in the depths of the mystical Himalayas, Brahmatal is considered one of the best treks to do in winter. The magnified views of Mt. Trishul and Mt. Nanda Ghunti are a breathtaking experience. There is no view of these mountains on any other trek apart from Brahmatal. It certainly takes the honour of having the best Himalayan view.
The specialty of the trek is its availability in winter. It challenges you to a visit to its lap. You can trek to the Brahmatal during December-February. The abundance of snow during this time is nowhere else to be seen. All of the vicinity surrounding Brahmatal will hypnotise you with its beauty. The changing landscape on every day of the trek is one of the most contrasting beauties of this trek. From an oak and rhododendron forest to a snow-covered clearing that looks like a meadow from a white-heaven, you enter the grand views of the Himalayan mountains.
On the second day of the trek, you walk along the ridge with a grand view of Mt. Trishul. At the end of the ridge, you will be spoiled with clear mountain views, as you will have Mt. Trishul on your left and Mt. Nanda Ghuti. As you trek even further, there will be several 7,000 m mountains that you will see on the trek. All along your journey, you will be accompanied by these mountain peaks. The extraordinary view of the Himalayan peaks makes Brahmatal the best trek for mountain views!
The trek is considered a moderately difficult trek. Thus, anyone who has little to no experience of trekking with high fitness can do this trek. The bone-crunching cold on the trek makes it challenging for the trekkers. So there has been a growing popularity of Brahmatal because of the challenge and the beauty of this trek. During winter, the trail on the trek gets absolutely washed out; you will walk on a white trail from the Santa Claus animations. Walking in the dense forests covered with snow in absolute silence makes it an extraordinary moment of solitude.
The base camp of the trek is Lohajang Village, which is the starting point for many other famous treks in Uttarakhand. The scenic village calls out to many trekkers every day from all around the world. The terrace farm in the village is Instagram-worthy and will be a part of your special collection. The drive to the village is breathtaking. Here you will acclimatise before the trek as well. There will be a clear view of Mt. Nanda Ghuti from the village. You can buy winter clothing from Lohajung as well, since it is situated between many other villages. Hence, there are several local shops. The village gets its name from the demon “Lohasur” whom Mata Parvati defeated in the village.
Thus, from the scenic village to the breathtaking mountain and the abundance of snow in absolute solitude, Brahmatal is a must-do trek.
